About Isuroon

Founded in 2010, Isuroon is a women-led organization empowering Somali women in Minnesota. We provide access to health, financial literacy, civic engagement, and leadership programs. Through partnerships, we offer culturally competent training and research to improve outcomes and reduce disparities. Our mission is to build trust to move families from crisis to stability to upward mobility—while transforming the systems that create barriers to health, safety, and opportunity.

The name Isuroon signifies a woman who prioritizes self-care. With the courage of Somali women and the resources we provide, families in Minnesota can:

Overcome challenges like language barriers, racism, and religious intolerance

Successfully navigate a complex and unfamiliar healthcare system.

Advocate for their own physical, social, and financial well-being.

OUR COMMITMENT TO
EQUITY AND LEARNING

At Isuroon, our commitment to equity and learning is at the core of everything we do. We are dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusivity, where every individual, especially the Somali women we serve, have the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

Through ongoing education and awareness initiatives, we strive to combat gender inequality and break the cycles of poverty, illness, and social isolation. By providing culturally sensitive programs and resources, we empower Somali women to take control of their health and well-being.

We believe in the power of collaboration and community engagement to drive positive change. By working hand in hand with our partners and stakeholders, we aim to build a more equitable and healthier society for all.

VISION

We envision communities where every family is trusted, valued, and supported to thrive—where culture is recognized as a strength and systems are designed with communities, not simply for them.
